  • Box lacrosse, also known as indoor lacrosse, is an indoor version of lacrosse played in Canada and becoming very popular in the US. Box lacrosse is played between two teams of six players, in a hockey rink with a turf surface. Due to the presence of hockey boards, there are fewer balls out of play, fewer stoppages in play, and more rebounds.

  • Rep (short for Representative) lacrosse teams are the competitive squads that represent the Peterborough Minor Lacrosse Association in games and tournaments against other clubs. These teams compete within the Ontario Lacrosse Association and are ranked each year from “A” through “E” based on skill and performance. Rep lacrosse is the top level of competitive box lacrosse offered within our club.

    1. The speed is way faster than anything you would see outdoors.  It makes playing outside seem like going in slow motion.

    2. Playing in closer spaces means your stick skills have to be tighter and quicker. Your stick handling improves because there is no room for error, quite literally.

    3. Shots come hard and fast. Goalies see more shots in a shorter period of time. Their hands and reaction time become much quicker.

  • Players do not have to live within the City of Peterborough limits to try out; however, Ontario Lacrosse Association residency rules require athletes to be residentially bound to PMLA in order to play Rep Box with our club. To confirm your eligible centre, use the “Where Do I Play?” tool on the Ontario Lacrosse Association website.

  • All Rep Box players must have proper lacrosse gear to participate:

    • Lacrosse stick

    • CSA-approved helmet with full face mask

    • Mouthguard

    • Shoulder pads

    • Arm and elbow protection

    • Rib and back padding

    • Lacrosse gloves

    • Athletic support and cup

U11 Girls Lakers

Our youngest all girls program. Includes structured weekly practices with league play tournaments throughout the summer. Provincial championships wrap up the season.

The registration fee is what the PMLA collects from each rep player to cover operational costs. The total listed here is the total payable to the PMLA. Registration Fees do not include Team Fees. Team fees are set at each team’s discretion with oversight from the club.

U13, U15 & U17 Girls Lakers

These age divisions follow a similar routine with weekly practices, league games, and tournament play. Teams that qualify may advance to higher-level provincial championships, including the Ontario Lacrosse Festival.

U22 Girls Lakers

Our oldest age group offers more advanced competition, with weekly practices, league scheduled games, tournaments, and the opportunity to compete at championships.

Join a fun, fast-paced, winning organization!

Players have gone on from the PMLA to play for Team Ontario, Team Canada and at Canadian and US universities. Box lacrosse experience is highly valued by field lacrosse coaches.

The Peterborough Lakers Rep Program offers a Girls Box Lacrosse Program for the U11, U13, U15, U17 & U22 girls divisions. The season runs the same length as the boys season beginning in May and concluding in August.
