End of Quarter Procedure
When there is 1-minute remaining, inform each coaching staff of this.
When there is 30-seconds remaining, you will announce that you are “coming on the field” and will need to gravitate towards the official who is on bench-side. Do not cross the field.
Count down the remaining time to the referee; “30, 20, 10, 9, 8.......3, 2, 1, Time”.
The timekeeper must not watch the play of the game.
Penalty time does not start until both of the following conditions are met:
-penalized player is present and kneeling next to Timer's table
-referees have restarted play
Notify penalized players by team colour first and then number (“Blue 22, 15-seconds remaining”).
Intervals are 30-seconds, 15-seconds and then “5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Release”.
1. The clock will not stop unless a referee specifies this. You can and should ask for clarification at any time.
2. A penalized player must remain next to the Timer's table and may not return to his bench or the field of play until he has penalty time has elapsed. If he does so, his penalty clock will stop and will resume once he returns.
